Culture and Etiquette in Qatar


Being  a Muslim country, the famous local tradition and practices still prevail to date and both foreigners either expatriates or visitors together with the natives are expected to be very much considerate of the culture. Qatar is actually a safe and a family friendly place to live with very low incidence of violent crimes. The single women are actually very safe and can move around the town even at night. The only things that you should avoid unless you love trouble are public drunkenness, Obscenities, lewd hand gestures and actually public displays of affection.
Liquor License

Qatar is actually an Islamic country and even though the country and the natives have opened the gates of the city to foreigners, the expatriates should and will always take care and always be considerate so as not to offend the country’s religious or cultural beliefs and this actually include during the ancient and famous holy month of Ramadan. The consumption of alcohol is actually not illegal in Qatar but the consumption and its sale is heavily controlled. It is usually illegal to import alcohol into the country and it is an offence to drink alcohol or to be drunk and disorderly in a public place.

Alcohol is not actually banned in Qatar. The government has made alcohol available but in licensed restaurants and hotels which are the only one allowed to sell alcohol but only to Adults and only non Muslim customers in restricted areas. The non Muslim expatriates living in Qatar
